Jade Maracic works primarily in oil paint, drawn to thick brushstrokes, layered textures, and bold color that allow her to hold onto moments that might otherwise slip away. Many of her paintings begin as quick photographs taken throughout her day—small gestures, passing expressions, or brief pauses that catch her attention before disappearing.
These subtle, easily overlooked moments form the core of her practice. Through shifts in color, scale, and texture, she gives weight to the fragments of everyday life that often go unnoticed. Painting becomes her way of slowing the world down long enough for the ordinary to become meaningful.
Ultimately, Jade aims for her paintings to feel familiar, as if the viewer has lived a version of the moment before. By elevating the everyday, she hopes to remind people that we share more than we realize and that we are all moving through the same spaces, brushing against one another’s lives in subtle, significant ways.
